  5. Segments can be designed in 
  6. contact lenses similar to 
  7. those in spectacle bifocals.  
  8. In this case the lenses are an 
  9. alternating bifocal.  An 
  10. alternating bifocal is one in 
  11. which the segment (near portion) 
  12. is usually below the pupil with 
  13. distance gaze and with down gaze 
  14. the lens moves up (alternates) so 
  15. the near portion of the lens 
  16. covers the majority of the pupil.

  19. inferior position prism is used to 
  20. prevent the lens from rotating.
